Rhydian Roberts is a classically trained Welsh baritone singer and musical theatre artist who rose to fame after appearing on the fourth series of the X Factor in 2007. On the show he was nicknamed the 'Rhydler' and was a very popular contestant, every week he impressed the judges and viewers with his outstanding voice and dramatic performances. Rhydian, who was the red-hot favourite to win the ITV1 show, ended as runner up. In a shock result Leon Jackson was crowned winner of the X Factor, leaving Rhydian Roberts in second place. Rhydian, who was the bookies 1/3 favourite to win the ITV1 show, said "Some things are meant to be in life. "I can't complain, I have had a lovely time. "Congratulations to Leon, he's a great guy and I wish him all the best." Same Difference, the only group left in the competition, came third in the public vote.
Rhydian has released three studio albums Of his CD albums, the first went platinum, the second included collaborations with Kiri te Kanawa and Bryn Terfel and the third, Waves (Conehead Records, 1 August 2011) marks a shift in style from opera to pop. Rhydian has toured the UK and made gala and charity appearances in his native Wales and at the Royal Albert Hall, London. His star musical theatre roles include a European arena tour of The War of the Worlds - Alive on Stage! and segments of the UK tour of We Will Rock You.
